Such wonderful effects can be created when we allow looseness into our paintings.  Have you ever had a go at using a really big brush to encourage the use of your whole body when painting?  Use the whole arm to make broad, sweeping strokes standing at a distance from the canvas.  When we stand very close, nose inches away, holding the brush tightly and past the feral, we loose the ability to move with freedom.

Playing music whilst painting can also encourage flow into a painting – see what happens when you give it a go.  The flowers in the above painting, emerged through the use of big brushes and sweeping strokes of a palette knife and then the paint was allowed to merge and move of it’s own accord.
