Molding pastes have been around for quite some time now, but not everyone knows what to do with them.  With this in mind, I’ve come up with the painting shown here.  It is difficult to appreciate the texture underneath the layers of brightly coloured acrylic and inks used, but it is there nevertheless and helps to create depth and interesting lines to the naked eye.

I chose to use Atelier Molding Paste with a medium grain and it really is simply a case of placing thick gooey layers on the canvas before allowing to dry naturally or with a hairdryer.  In addition, I actually pasted in real leaves and I also used a stencil I’d cut out and placed the paste on around the shapes or inside the stencil if you prefer.  It’s great fun and I encourage you to have a go!
