Hi Everyone

I hope this email finds you well as we move into Autumn having enjoyed a superbly hot summer.  I’m very aware I haven’t written since the Spring but it’s been a wonderfully full time.

We’re not long back from our holiday in Patmos where I have been filled with the colour of the pink bougainvillea flowers over there, the clear aqua blues of the sea and the bright turquoise used to paint their doors, shutters and fencing!  I have lots of ideas which I plan to paint onto canvas or driftwood.  We actually brought back a piece of beechwood found on the beach over there – my husband popped it in his suitcase!

For those wishing to lose themselves in the joy of painting, there’s plenty of classes planned for the Autumn months as the nights close in so that we can still get creative and brighten our spirits with a variety of landscapes and flower scenes.  Starting 1st November, there will be a set of 6 afternoon classes available in Newport (2pm to 4pm) and for those not on the Island, there are always online classes available which can be booked at times convenient to you.

I will be taking part in the Christmas Fair at Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater (19th/20th November) which is always a fun thing to do and a nice opportunity for visitors to purchase handmade crafts, paintings and gifts for Christmas and of course a painting class makes a great and more unusual present.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported me at my Quarr Abbey Art Exhibition this year and the County Show – it proved very successful and I loved meeting up with you all and meeting new people who have  come and given painting a go for themselves.

Looking a little further ahead, the May Residential Painting Holiday at The Beach House in Norfolk is now full.  However, there are spaces on the June Residential 30th June to 7th July 2023.  Alternatively, if there is a family, group of friends or an existing painting group who would like to hire this week entirely for themselves then please get in touch.

I think that’s it for now.  In the meantime, look to nature for inspiration even if the weather is a bit wild at times and do that which makes you laugh.  I find painting always provides an escape into another world which is full of joy, colour and delight.
Please get in touch if you’d like to try painting for yourself or wish to join in any of the classes or book your own.

Happy painting and warm wishes to you all. Sophia xx
