Have you ever had a go at adding in more texture with the addition of tissue paper, paper doilies or patterned paper, even newspaper? It can create some surprisingly unusual effects. In the painting ‘Feather Light’ above, a layer of crumpled tissue paper was applied using PVC glue thinned down with water to keep it firmly stuck on the mount board. Once dry, a layer of acrylic was pulled across in a totally different colour which brought the wrinkles and patterns of the tissue paper beneath. Dainty flowers were then applied on top.
